In 2 Timothy 3:1-6 Paul warns of the evils in our day that shall “creep into houses, and lead [you] captive.”

Elder Bednar tells of a time when he and his wife watched a pair of cheetahs stalk a large group of topis on African grasslands which led to discussing and identifying valuable lessons that have to do with the same evils of our day that Paul refers to.

  • Beware of evil’s beguiling disguises: Spiritually dangerous ideas and actions frequently can appear to be attractive, desirable or pleasurable. In our contemporary world, each needs to beware of beguiling bad that pretends to be good.
  • Stay awake and be alert: Spiritually speaking, we need to stay awake and be alert to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and to the signals that come from the Lord’s watchmen on the towers.
  • Understand the intent of the enemy: The very tool Satan does not have and cannot use — a physical body — is thus the primary target of his attempts to lure us to physical and spiritual destruction.
