Learn FUN FACTS about the First Presidency and Twelve Apostles while playing the popular game Don’t Eat Pete! Perfect for Primary, Youth, or Family Home Evening.
One of our family’s all-time favorite games we play for Family Home Evening is Don’t Eat Pete! I’m sure you have all heard of it or have played the game yourselves. If you search on Pinterest, you can find many variations of Don’t Eat Pete game boards that are really cute and fun.
Normally for each Don’t Eat Pete game board you find, it is divided into a grid. For this version, I simply printed off the chart of church leaders that is on the church’s website and used that as my game board.
For those who don’t know how to play or may have forgotten, let me remind you…
1. You will need a game board and small pieces of candy such as m&m’s, jelly beans, or candy corn. We have even used marshmallows or chocolate chips – you get the idea 😉
2. Place one piece of candy on each square of the game board or in this case, one piece of candy on each face.
3. Send one player out of the room where they can’t see or hear you.
4. The remaining players choose which face or candy is Pete. Be sure all of the players know except for the one who left the room.
5. Invite the player back into the room and they get to take one candy at a time off of the game board until they pick Pete. When they touch Pete, everyone says “Don’t eat Pete!”
To help us learn a little more about The First Presidency and Twelve Apostles I added one more step to the game.
6. When the player picks Pete, that player then gets to read off some FUN FACTS about Pete (aka the Church Leader that was chosen to be Pete that round). For younger kids, the teacher can select a few FUN FACTS to tell.
