There comes a time when even good things must end, and that’s ok. They have served their purpose and what we have learned from them will stay with us for a lifetime. The week of July 5, 2021 will be my last Come, Follow Me Daily Study Guide.

Recently I came across the Church News article about the North Visitors’ Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City that explained how it was going to be demolished as part of the Temple Square renovation. After reading that article, I was sad as I thought about the first time I visited that Visitors’ Center. It was the summer I came to Utah to visit my grandma and cousins when I was 12-years-old. Coming from a small town in Missouri, this was my first trip to Temple Square. Of course I was in awe as I walked up to the 11-foot statue of Jesus Christ surrounded by the mural of heaven and earth. I felt a special feeling that day I’ll never forget. Throughout the years since that day, I have gone back and visited Temple Square and each time I have visited, the North Visitors’ Center has always been on my list of things I had to see.

Thinking back to all the times I’ve been to see that statue of Christ, the thought came to me that it has served it’s purpose. It was wonderful while it was there. It did much good helping others to feel the spirit and yearn to come closer to Christ. But now it’s season has passed.
As with the North Visitors’ Center, there is a time and season for everything. As we are taught in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…”
These thoughts and feelings have come at a time when I have felt drawn to do other things in my life and have begun struggling to find time to do them while still putting together weekly Come Follow Me Study Guides. I feel my guides have served a wonderful purpose. Many of you have expressed how much they helped you through COVID when we had to do Church at home on Sundays. I have felt blessed as I have shared these guides with you. I have learned and grown in the gospel so much during this last year and a half.
What I’m trying to say is…

I know you will continue to do amazing when it comes to teaching the scriptures in your home because I know you will continue to invite the Spirit to be with you as you study and prepare. You’ve got this! 🙂 No matter how discouraging or hard life gets, don’t ever quit reading the scriptures. They lead us to Christ and are our anchor in this chaotic world.

June 27, 2021 1:30 pmI can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed and used your weekly lessons. I share a lesson every week with my grandchildren. They are all over the world. The Studio C videos have been greatly enjoyed. Could you share how you find those videos that go so well with your lessons. Again, thank you for sharing your lessons.

June 27, 2021 8:00 pmThat’s so awesome, Sidney, that you are able do weekly lessons with your grandchildren. Technology is a blessing in so many ways. My kids love Studio C videos as well. Usually after reading over the lesson I’ll try to pick a theme or topic out such as “prayer” and then I go to YouTube and type in the search bar: Studio C prayer or Studio C listening. Several Studio C videos will then come up which usually leads to other Studio C videos until I find one that fits the lesson. I’ll also jot some videos down that I see if I think they would be great in a future lesson. For church videos the Church website is great and also the Church’s Gospel Media app is a great resource.
Thanks for all of your support and happy teaching 🙂 Your grandkids are very lucky to have you!
