Animated Children’s Video about The Parable of the Sower by Gospel Pictures. This video is 2 minutes and 27 seconds long.
In the Parable of the Sower found in Matthew 13:1–23, Jesus compares 4 different kinds of soil to people’s hearts and their willingness to accept the gospel. The seeds in the parable represent the word of God.
The 4 types of soil and the people they represent are:
- Matthew 13:4 “fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up” are people with hardened hearts who don’t understand the truth or who aren’t prepared for the truth.
- Matthew 13:5-6 “fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: … when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root they withered away” are people who start out happy to hear the gospel but they don’t do anything to nourish their spirits so they are unable to resist temptation.
- Matthew 13:7 “fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them” are people who end up caring more about worldly pleasures and riches.
- Matthew 13:8 “fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit” are people who stay true and faithful to the very end.
*Please note this video was not produced by a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but is still suitable and adequate, I believe, when teaching The Parable of the Sower.
